Getting a placement

We have a range of information available, including our DVD, which gives you an insight into some of the project's activities. Please contact Jackie or Ann in the office to get your copy.

Referral to the Project

Young people find out about the project in many different ways. However, all students need to access a Social Worker from the Learning Disability Team

An individual assessment is completed and if a student meets the criteria they can be referred to the project.

A taster day is arranged, skills are assessed, the correct programme identified, additional information provided, induction timetable and start date arranged

Ongoing Assessment and Reviews

Once a student begins the project, the first term will focus on ongoing assessment and a range of opportunities also recognising the needs for the future and work experience opportunities as appropriate.

Progressing and Moving-on

The project has good relationships with other organisations and once a student has progressed and developed, we seek to move young people on to a range of other opportunities which may include Supported Living, Full-time/Part-time College Courses, Part-time paid work, Voluntary work, Training Provider.

The project ensures that transition takes place in a supportive and focused way at the appropriate time for each young person.
