Community activities The activities "Out and About" are primarily in the programme as work-based learning opportunities and not merely a way of having a "day out". All of the activities are tailored to meet the objectives set for each student on the e2e programme. All activities are risk-assessed before any student ventures near the workplace.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust The work experience at the wildlife Trust is a horticulture based placement for a number of the students to help with the trust activities in all areas. This ensures that the students experience a placement that focuses on the outdoor horticulture type work that they may eventually want to take on a their own work area. The work is carried out with full risk assessment and under the supervision of trained Trust staff supported by job coaches from the Clifford Project. As can be seen from the photos above, part of the day includes some relaxation and learning about the environment t challenging experience for young people with learning disabilities, by encouraging independence, confidence, self esteem and a sense of value. They are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and the wider community, and to achieve their true potential. |

Staffordshire Fire Headquarters One work placement opportunity that offers a variety of different enjoyable work roles is the Staffordshire fire Headquarters in Stone. The students can undertake a variety of roles from office based to general work tasks assisting in the fire training. As would be expected from such an organisation, the risk assessments done before any placement at the headquarters are rigorous.

Somerfield Work Placements Some of the students have reached the part in their personal programme where they are ready for an individual work placement. This is usually after they have undergone the travel training and general induction programme for the company where they are placed. One placement is the Somerfield supermarket in Stone. This is a very successful and enjoyable placement for the students where they are learning a variety of retail service skills.
